starring at Tennessee. |
Inexperience
loses the game late
To the dismay of fans attending this game, the NBA's leading
scorer - Orlando's Tracy McGrady did not play in this game due to a sore back.
The Magic ended up not needing him.
After enjoying slight leads at halftime and at the end
of the 3rd quarter, the Nuggets fell apart in the final quarter of this game.
A tight game turned into a frustrating loss in the final
3 minutes. With the Nuggets trailing by a couple of points, a defensive stop led
to a 3-1 fast-break. Somehow, Donnell Harvey blew an easy dunk and the Magic turned
it back the other way where Mike Miller sank a three. The Nuggets had another
empty possession and Miller again hit a three. Boom - 8 point Magic lead, and
the Nuggets could not get close again. Mistakes and lack of concentration at the
end of the game sank the young Nuggets in an otherwise well played game.
Howard had another steady game, starting off red-hot
by hitting his first 5 shots. He finished 10-18 with 20 points, 6 rebounds and
5 assists. White added 16 points.
For Orlando, all 5 of their starters had double digit
points, with Garrity and Kemp doing most of the damage with 17 points each.
Til next game,
Alan
