Nuggets win a nail-biterPlaying back-to-back for only the second time this season the Nuggets were able rebound from their loss in Philadelphia with a victory over the Celtics in Boston 100-99. After Paul Pierce made a pair of free throws to put the Celtics up 99-98 with 10.7 seconds left the Nuggets put the ball in Anthony’s hands and he didn’t let them down. He came off a screen and nailed a jumper with 3.6 seconds over former Nugget Mark Blount. Paul Pierce tried to answer Anthony’s jumper, but wasn’t able to hit the buzzer-beater. The Nuggets broke out in the second quarter with a 13-3 run and led 48-41 at the half. After giving up an 18-point led to the 76ers the night before, the Nuggets were able to overcome a late game surge by the Celtics for the victory. After the Philadelphia game which had all of the Nuggets starters playing 36+ minutes, Jeff Bzdelik went to his bench more in this game. He went deep as he played little-used guard Dermarr Johnson, who was in the game during the Nuggets run in the second. The Nuggets frontcourt all had double-doubles, led by Anthony who had 25 points and 10 rebounds. Kenyon Martin had 18 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, four block shots and three steals. Marcus Camby had 16 points, 11 rebounds and five block shots. This Eastern Conference road trip has been better than the past few years for the Nuggets. They have recorded their third (should be four) win in five games and finish their trip this weekend in Florida versus the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic’s, both teams the Nuggets have beaten earlier this season.
