Earl Boykins in Cleveland

Boykins - a small man, but a giant among men with a basketball in his hand.

Boykins does it again in front of his hometown

The last time the Nuggets faced the Cavaliers, they were blown out of the building, 92-73.

By halftime, the Nuggets seemed to be slipping away, as the Cavs led by ten. Lebron James had his usual numbers -- 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. He continually "parted the Red Sea", and finishing with explosive dunks. On the other end Carmelo Anthony had only 8 points on 3-of-8 shooting.

But the Nuggets stormed back in the third, led by the little guy. Earl Boykins scored 12 points in the third, capped by an open layup with .6 seconds left to cut the Cavaliers lead to just one.

In the fourth, the Nuggets went on a 9-0 run. But the Cavaliers wouldn't quit, and when Ilgauskas made two free throws with 20 seconds, the Nuggets led by only two. But Andre Miller made two big free throw, and Lebron missed a three-pointer to essentially end the game.

What was good about this game is that the even though Carmelo shot poorly (5-of-12), the still found a way to beat the the Cavs and Lebron, who finished with 35 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Boykins Does It Again

Even before the start of the game, i was pretty sure that this is going to be one fun game to watch, and i wasn't mistaken. I wouldn't have missed this game for nothing in world, i've been waiting for quite a while to see Earl Boykins live, and i wasn't dissapointed at all.

Forget the slam dunk contest, what happened between the Denver Nuggets and Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night went beyond any expectations. Right from the first quarter, both teams tried to take the lead putting up a great show, with lots of spectacular plays, the main characters being LeBron James who scored 14 of his 35 points in the first period, and Kenyon Martin who had a magnific slam-dunk and an alleyup assisted by Earl Boykins. The quarter ended with a 3 pointer at the buzzer from Greg Buckner, giving the Nuggets a fragile 1 point advantage before the seconf quarter.

Denver's rush from the previous 12 minutes dropped, allowing the Cavaliers to take the lead, and having with 35 seconds 12 points over the Colorado team. This wasn't such a great term, at least for the Nuggets who scored only 16 points and Melo Carmelo was pretty washed.

Earl Boykins is clutch indeed!

However, coach George Karl remembered about Earl Boykins the not so very tall guard but the guy who has a great heart and decided to put the faith of the game in his hands. A very good idea it was, as Boykins proved that size doesn't matter and helped by Andre Miller and Nene he brought the Nuggets back in the game, re-establishing the score and giving hopes. Denver finished the 3rd quarter only one point behind.

The last period, was a great one, even better than the first one but there were some questionable referee calls, one that i can remember was involving Martin's alleyup that was cancelled. It was a team-quearter where all the players contributed, Miller, Nene, Martin, Anthony and Boykins. One of the best games of the whole season ended with a well-deserved victory of Denver Nuggets over Cleveland Cavaliers 105-101 at Gund Arena.

George Karl seems like the perfect guy to coach this team.
