Kenyon was hot from three-point land - and helped hold off the mighty Pistons. We finally found our outside shooterWho knew that Kenyon Martin was the three point shooter we've been clamoring for all year? That's right - Kenyon somehow led the team tonight in three-point shooting, accounting for half of the team's total, and going 2-3 from behind the arc. The rest of the team was 2-11. Both of Kenyon's threes came late in the 4th, with the shot clock winding down, and helped hold of the Pistons. Hopefully this timely success for Kenyon does not detract from his working inside the rest of the season, but it does speak to the fact that he has been working on his outside shooting this season, something he's had to do to remain productive and he works thru the issues with his knee this year. Coach Karl tried yet another starting line-up combination for the season, this time inserting his new "attack-dog" aka Ruben Patterson at the 2-guard position. Ruben rewarded him with a solid game - 13 points and 7 rebounds. His energy was contagious, and the rest of the team brought it as well. The Nuggets hung with Detroit in the first quarter, ending up just 6 points down despite several three pointers by local star and one-time Nugget Chauncey Billups. Billups would end up hitting 6 on the night and led the Pistons with 27 points. Melo's outside shot was not there tonight, but he was able to get to the hoop using some incredible moves and crossovers thru the heart of arguably the best team defense in the NBA. A good sign, for sure. He had 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in a solid all-around game. Camby had perhaps his most dominating performance since coming back from his finger injury in January. His line says it all 12 points, 20 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal and 5 blocks. He was everywhere, but his rebounding helped the Nuggets hold a huge edge in that department - 59 vs. the Pistons 35. The Nuggets had not so thoroughly out-rebounded their opponnent in a long, long time.
