Nuggets Open House – photos

Thursday, December 27th, 2001

Tweet I just got back from the Nuggets 2001 Open House, an annual event to reward season ticket holders to some behind the scenes access to the Nuggets players and coaching staff. Despite the recent turmoil with the team, it was a great event, there was a large turn-out, and everyone was in good spirits.

Issel resigns as Nuggets Head Coach and President

Thursday, December 27th, 2001

Tweet Dan Issel has officially resigned as Nuggets Head Coach and President. The official announcement came at 5:00 yesterday, just hours before the Nuggets were to host the Minnesota T-Wolves. Although I find it sad to see the Horse leave the Nuggets on these terms, it does bring closure to the events that started on […]

Issel takes surprise leave of absence

Sunday, December 23rd, 2001

Tweet I showed up at the game expecting to see Issel back coaching the Nuggets for the Warriors game. Surprise – Issel requests an indefinite leave of absence just hours before the game, leaving assistant Mike Evans to coach his 5th straight game. Most of the Nuggets were shocked, and they played that way, losing […]

Tweet Issel returns from his 4 game suspension, to coach the Nuggets/Warriors game tonight. Issel has been forgiven by Hispanic leaders in Denver after he made several public apologies since the incident on December 11th. In other news – the Nuggets were absolutely pounded by the Spurs in San Antonio in a home/away combo. They […]

Tweet Dan Issel met with several Hispanic leaders in Denver and made a heartfelt apology to the group that was widely accepted. As a result of this, and possibly a further public apology by Issel this week, Hispanic leaders are no longer calling for a boycott of the Nuggets, or for the firing of Issel […]

Thursday, December 13th, 2001

Tweet Ah, finally some good news. Rumors have been circling for the past few weeks, but Antonio McDyess confirmed today to the Rocky Mountain News that he expects to be back earlier than predicted – possibly early January, instead of early February. Let’s hope the team doctors agree!

Hispanic leaders threaten to boycott Nuggets

Thursday, December 13th, 2001

Tweet The latest news in the Dan Issel saga – Pierre Jiminez, speaking for the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, has threatened that the Nuggets will be boycotted unless they fire coach Dan Issel. The Nuggets organization has already come forward and said that Dan Issel will not be fired, that 25 years of service […]

Issel suspended for 4 games

Wednesday, December 12th, 2001

Tweet The Nuggets have officially suspended Coach Dan Issel for four games without pay following his outburst after the loss to the Hornets. Issel spoke at a live press conference today and apologized to the fan, the Nuggets organization, and the city of Denver for his actions. It’s a sad day, and it should have […]

Issel crosses the line

Wednesday, December 12th, 2001

Tweet Coach Dan Issel crossed the line last night after another frustrating Nuggets loss. Just after the home loss to the Charlotte Hornets, Issel was walking just in front of point guard Nick Van Exel. A fan yelled down to Issel as he was just about to walk under the tunnel to the Nuggets locker-room. […]

Tweet I’ve decided to get a little more modern (and make life easier) by converting the news/thoughts section to a custom weblog (powered by Greymatter). Over time, you’ll be able to more easily search thru NuggetsHoops news updates for the news you are looking for.
