Good News/Van Exel News…

February 19th, 2002 by aswitzer

Let’s try this again… Antonio is once again hoping to make his season debut with the Nuggets in Wednesday’s home game against Karl Malone and the Utah Jazz. Antonio and Coach Evans agree that it will be for very limited stretches, but I will cheer his first basket and jump for joy if he pulls off a dunk to prove his health. Antonio said he has worked hard rehabilitating his knee during the Nuggets recent 2-2 road game stretch.

For the Van Exel news, it seems our packed up point guard has had a change of heart. Earlier in February, Nick had gone on record saying he would be willing to void the final two years of his contract (worth 26.5 million) if the Nuggets could work a trade to a few select teams of his chooising. Yesterday and today, Nick has made it known that he has changed his mind and is now willing to rework or restructure, but not void his contract. Smart move, but it doesn’t help pull off a last minute trade for the troubled guard. This, after Nick accused Nuggets GM Kiki Vandeweghe of “wanting the world” for him and suggesting that was holding up a potential trade. Looks like you might want to unpack those bags Nick, and get ready for a trip to the IR for the rest of the season..
