Nuggets pick Carmelo!

June 26th, 2003 by aswitzer

It’s official! The first three picks went just as everyone predicted, and Kiki and the Nuggets selected Carmelo Anthony from Syracuse with the #3 pick.

So, it’s time to start getting excited about the upcoming season! Of all the players in the draft, I feel that Anthony is one of the guys that can help a team right away, and he’ll be able to help the Nuggets in an area they need the most help – scoring. Anthony is smooth, “Alex English” smooth, and although he’s only 19, he’s got poise, and the credentials (led Syracuse to first-ever NCAA title) to give him some of that much needed confidence to play in the NBA. Hmmm, maybe he can share some with Skita?

What do you think about the pick, Nuggets fans? Oh, and how about our first look at the new colors? I like them – definitely time for a change.

The Nuggets selected Sani Becirovic, a 6’5 Guard from Slovenia. I don’t know much about him, other than the fact that he had a knee injury in November 2002, which caused him to lose his spot on the Virtus Bologna team in Italy.

Surprise extra pick! The Nuggets acquired the 57th pick from Dallas via a trade. I can’t find any details at this late hour as to what the terms of the trade were. The pick was a 7 footer from China by the name of Xue Yuyang.

I watched carmello play just about every game this past year and this guy has got a game. he is hands down the best player to ever come out of syracuse university. what i love about this guy is that at crunch time he wants the ball and he delivers, by either scoring, going to the free throw line or dishing it to a teamate for an easy duece. Oh yeah, he can rebound also…..the sky’s the limit for this guy, to bad i don’t get
    your games back home.
