Okay, so its more than Carmelo vs. LeBron when the Nuggets and Cavs meet tonight, but it is kind of fun to get caught up in the media hype anyway.
Actually, since Round 1, this has turned into an expected victory for the Nuggets. At home, where they are 7-1 against the somewhat lowly Cavs who are 4-13 overall. How many expected victories did the Nuggets actually have the past few years? Not a whole lot. The Nuggets are on an incredible roll and the NBA is taking notice of them as one of the league’s hottest teams. It’s worth your time to check out the great article at NBA.com via that last link!
LeBron and Carmelo are both having impressive rookie seasons thus far. The main difference is that Carmelo’s team is winning, and that is a huge factor. LeBron may have better stats come season end, but Carmelo is a huge part of the Nuggets success in many different ways, not just scoring, and if the success continues Carmelo should win rookie of the year by a landslide. As a Nuggets fan you learn to be cautious when success rises up though, so we shall just have to see. 🙂
At the beginning of the year, I thought Cleveland had more talent than Denver around their rookie prize. Chemistry though is on our side, and we have some hidden talent that has surprised many people that follow the NBA.
If the Nuggets continue to do what Coach Bzdelik has been preaching – run, run, run, share the ball on offense, and play smart team defense, that should lead to another home victory in front of a huge and pumped up crowd.
On a personal note – Happy Birthday Dad – looking forward to the big game tonight. 🙂
