Anthony / Camby Injury Update

December 22nd, 2003 by aswitzer

Marcus Camby did not return for the second half of the home loss to Seattle.

“I was hurting before the game,” he said of his strained lower back. “I shouldn’t have played. I was hurting before I came to the arena.”

Camby may miss tonight’s game against Memphis. He’ll then have three days extra rest for his back before the Nuggets next game – Friday against Houston.

Carmelo Anthony’s injury was less obvious, as he played the whole game. He actually initially injured his right big toe in the December 16th game against New York. His postgame x-rays were negative after re-injuring it against Seattle.

“It felt serious tonight.” Anthony said. “I’m not missing any games. A couple of weeks ago, I hit it. I’ve never felt pain like that, and I’ve had back pain and all that.”

Jon Barry was recently put on the IR (12/22/03), the first player to have done so, if I’m not mistaken. Jeff Trepagnier has taken his place on the active roster.

An MRI discovered a tear in Barry’s right shoulder (labrum) that will require athroscopic surgery to repair. He will be out several weeks but will hopefully have a quick recovery.
